Access the intermediate layers of simplified anatomy and other course notes at: https://www.scottbreton.com.au/full-basic-ecorche-and-gestural-life-drawing-course This model is from the course in life drawing that I teach. Students build this model as a simplified Ecorche in coloured clay onto a 430mm 3D printed skeleton armature, as well as studying aspects of form drawing, and of course drawing from the life model (nude artists’ model).

The course contains dozens of embedded 3D models like this one (click to load, swipe to rotate, and pinch/scroll to zoom) to help you understand the essentials of artistic anatomy “in the round”.

The figure as an expressive element of compositions

Scott Breton’s

Form, Gesture, Anatomy

Figure Drawing Course

An integrated, sequential course covering:

  1. the fundamentals of form drawing

  2. life drawing from the model

  3. human anatomy stripped back to observed essentials

Ultimately, the aim is to help the student to see the figure in spatial, anatomical and gestural essentials, and to deal with this information efficiently and directly.
